Position Brief: Overnight On-Road Operational Commander

A high-performing logistics network is entirely dependent on the quality of its field leadership, particularly during the grueling graveyard hours. We are actively seeking distinguished, veteran delivery professionals to ascend to the role of 3rd Shift Fleet Team Lead within our Delivery Service Partner (DSP) network. This is a critical, hybrid command position that bridges the gap between frontline execution and central dispatch management in the middle of the night. You will not merely drive a route; you will be the tactical nocturnal anchor for the entire local fleet, responsible for mentoring new recruits under the floodlights, executing emergency on-road rescues in the dark, and ensuring the DSP hits its strict Amazon performance metrics before dawn. If you have mastered the art of the last-mile and seek 3rd shift driving jobs that offer legitimate leadership authority, strategic problem-solving, and a clear trajectory into salaried corporate operations, this is your ultimate overnight career evolution.

Core Operational Directives

Your objective is to ensure the operational fluidity of the entire overnight dispatch. You will execute a condensed delivery route while actively monitoring, supporting, and rescuing the broader fleet of graveyard drivers on the road.

  • Tactical Nocturnal Fleet Rescue (Sweeping): Function as the primary rapid-response unit in the dark. You will be dynamically deployed by dispatch to intercept 3rd shift drivers who are critically behind schedule. You must safely execute on-road cargo transfers utilizing flashlights, absorbing massive package volumes and delivering them rapidly to protect Amazon's on-time morning metrics.
  • Field Mentorship & Shadowing: Serve as the primary operational instructor for all newly onboarded overnight drivers. You will conduct multi-night ride-alongs, teaching them ergonomic freight handling, advanced routing app utilization, and the nuances of safe commercial vehicle operation in low-visibility environments.
  • Load-Out Matrix Command: Anchor the late-night dispatch operations at the Delivery Station. You will assist operations managers in auditing pre-trip vehicle inspections (DVIRs), organizing staging lanes under artificial lighting, and physically helping slower drivers load their vans to ensure the fleet departs exactly on time.
  • Incident Command & Resolution: Act as the first point of contact for minor on-road incidents, flat tires, or vehicle lockouts in the middle of the night. You will guide drivers through strict accident reporting protocols, coordinate with 24-hour tow companies, and secure compromised freight.

Workplace Dynamics & Environment

The 3rd Shift Team Lead operates in an environment of constant communication and high-stakes nocturnal problem-solving. You are the veteran presence on the dark asphalt. Your night will constantly shift from the solitary focus of delivering your own packages to the intense coordination of rescuing a panicked new driver trapped in an unlit apartment complex. You must possess immense emotional intelligence to calm frustrated drivers at 3:00 AM, alongside the elite physical stamina required to take on their heavy freight and complete their routes at lightning speed. You are the respected, stabilizing force of the DSP's graveyard operations.

Financial Portfolio & Comprehensive Benefits

Leadership and advanced logistical capability on the 3rd shift command an elite compensation structure:

  • Premium Leadership Compensation & Night Pay: Earn a significantly elevated yearly salary that directly reflects your veteran driving status, your crucial training responsibilities, and your ability to salvage failing routes, massively boosted by 3rd shift premium differentials.
  • Direct Career Trajectory: This position is expressly designed as the primary stepping stone into salaried DSP management roles, including Overnight Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, or Operations Manager.
  • Total Healthcare Security: Access top-tier medical, dental, and vision insurance networks from Day 1 to ensure absolute protection for you and your family.
  • Paid Leave & Wealth Generation: Accrue generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and participate in robust 401(k) retirement plans featuring employer-matching contributions.

Candidate Criteria & Qualifications

This is strictly an advanced-tier position. Candidates must be 21 years of age or older with a valid driver's license. You must possess a minimum of 1 to 2 years of highly verifiable, flawless experience as an Amazon DSP Driver, boasting a historical record of perfect safety telemetry scores and elite delivery completion rates. You must possess exceptional verbal communication and coaching skills, capable of instructing and motivating a diverse overnight workforce. Master-level proficiency with GPS routing software and dispatch communication tools is mandatory. A comprehensive background check and 5-panel drug screen are required.
