Job Profile Summary

Under minimal supervision, plans and executes digital product strategy, technology/product development, technology and/or product support and/or customer engagement strategies in support of the company’s product and service portfolio.

Position Overview

Release communications is the megaphone for what's new at FedEx - connecting the work of our product teams to the people who need to know, understand, and act on it. We turn what's changed into why it matters, through clear, compelling storytelling.

  • As a Digital Marketing Advisor (a Release Communications Lead), you will be a key member of a newly formed function, and a trusted marketing team member. This is a highly autonomous role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, asks the right questions, builds relationships quickly, and can turn ideas into action without needing to be handed a playbook. You will help shape not only the communications themselves, but also how Release Communications operates across FedEx - from intake and prioritization to channel strategy, messaging, launch planning, and measurement.

Essential Functions

·      Partner with product, product marketing, engineering, and other digital cross functional teams to understand what's changing, and translate it into compelling customer focused messaging

·      Own end to end process - from intake to execution - including gathering requirements, developing content, coordinating stakeholders, securing approvals, and managing delivery

·      Help establish release communications operating model, including intake, workflows, governance, channel strategy, and communication standards

·      Lead meetings and working session with cross functional stakeholders, serving as the communications SME for digital products, driving discussions towards decisions and action

·      Help develop a centralized digital destination for releases across FedEx, internally and externally

·      Identify opportunities to increase awareness and adoption, and understanding of new releases through key moments, internal communications, and ongoing awareness efforts

·      Help bring structure to ambiguous or fast-moving work, while proactively identifying gaps, risks, dependences, etc.

·      Help establish measurable feedback mechanisms to understand reach and effectiveness

·      Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

·      A self-starter who takes ownership and can move work forward under minimal direction in ambiguous circumstances

·      Strong strategic and critical-thinking skills - the ability to connect business, product, customer, to communication objectives

·      Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex product and technical concepts into clear, compelling stories

·      Someone who naturally asks "why", and "how", challenging assumptions, and knows when to seek additional context

·      Comfortable leading meetings, facilitating discussions, and representing release communications with senior stakeholders

·      Demonstrated ability to work independently while knowing when to collaborate, escalate, or bring others in

·      Experience in product or logistics communications, release communications, product marketing, or related field

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree/equivalent experience in marketing, finance, computer science, engineering or related business discipline.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years experience in a digital marketing or digital product management environment or demonstrated knowledge gained through coursework or work experience in digital product marketing, management, or technology support.

More advanced degrees may offset experience requirements. A related Master’s Degree equals two (2) years experience.

Preferred Qualifications: This position is eligible for remote work and may be located anywhere within the United States excluding AK, HI and U.S. territories, however if you live within the 50 miles radius of a campus you will be required to work at a FedEx campus location several times per week.

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
