Great content earns attention, but exceptional editing builds trust. As a Temporary Copy Editor, you'll play a critical role in ensuring branded content is polished, accurate, engaging, and ready for publication across Hearst Magazines' digital platforms.

About Hearst Magazines (Why Us?)

Hearst Magazines is one of the largest publishers in the world, with a portfolio of more than 30 brands reaching millions of readers across print, digital, video, social, and experiential platforms. Our iconic brands connect with passionate audiences through trusted storytelling, innovative content, and industry-leading partnerships. Join a collaborative team that's shaping the future of media through creativity, quality, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)

  • Edit branded content across articles, landing pages, newsletters, social copy, and other editorial deliverables to ensure clarity, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Review content for grammar, punctuation, spelling, style, structure, tone, and overall readability while maintaining each brand's unique voice.
  • Ensure all copy aligns with editorial standards, client guidelines, project briefs, and brand requirements.
  • Fact-check names, titles, dates, claims, hyperlinks, captions, and supporting information to maintain editorial integrity.
  • Perform final quality assurance reviews on preview links before publication, identifying and resolving editorial and production issues.
  • Verify headlines, subheads, metadata, calls to action, image captions, pull quotes, and other on-page elements for accuracy and consistency.
  • Partner with writers, editors, designers, producers, and account teams to incorporate feedback and resolve outstanding issues efficiently.
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously while consistently meeting deadlines and delivering exceptional attention to detail.

Qualifications (What We're Looking For)
  • 5+ years of professional copy-editing or editorial experience.
  • Experience editing branded content, sponsored content, marketing copy, digital publishing, or journalism.
  • Exceptional command of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and editorial style.
  • Strong understanding of voice, tone, audience, and brand standards across multiple content formats.
  • Outstanding attention to detail, particularly during final-stage editorial reviews and quality assurance.
  • Experience working within web-based content management systems (CMS) or digital publishing preview environments.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • This is a fully remote position.

Benefits (What We Offer)
  • Work with the Best: Collaborate with top-tier professionals across media, advertising, tech, fashion, lifestyle, and publishing, shaping the future of these dynamic industries.
  • Grow Your Skills: Unlock your potential with access to innovative training programs, immersive workshops, and exclusive industry events.

  • Foster Connection & Belonging: Join our Employee Resource Groups and help create a welcoming workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered.
  • Wellness First: Prioritize your well-being with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance from Day 1.
  • Plan for Your Financial Future: Enjoy competitive financial perks, including a 401(k) plan with a generous company match.

The hourly rate for this role is $75.00 per hour. This position is not eligible for bonus or commission compensation. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
