The purpose of the Technology People Lead role is to build and sustain a high performing and capable workforce within the
service group. This role is accountable for ensuring the capability, performance, development, and career progression of
people are effectively supported to enable a strong culture and sustainable outcomes.
The People Lead provides coaching, mentoring, and leadership, embedding agreed people frameworks, policies, and
performance management practices while supporting individuals to plan and grow their careers
• Lead talent, people strategy, and workforce planning across the service group in partnership with key stakeholders.
• Build and maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe workplace culture aligned to Westpac values.
• Provide people leadership, coaching, and mentoring to develop high performing teams.
• Oversee end to end workforce activities including recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, and succession planning.
• Collaborate closely with internal technology teams, business units, and strategic partners to meet resourcing needs.
• Manage resource allocation and ensure effective utilisation of people across the service group.
• Establish and maintain effective technology people frameworks, tools, and processes.
• Support and contribute to Product Engineering strategic objectives through strong people leadership.
• Lead cultural transformation and change initiatives where required.
• Carry out any other duties reasonably requested by Westpac from time to time.
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
• At least 5 + years’ experience managing technical professionals.
• Proven experience in people leadership of large teams.
• Experience in recruitment and management of end-to-end employee lifecycle.
• Coaching, Mentoring and Facilitation skills.
• Ability to develop and grow high-performing people, providing role clarity, identifying talent, and maximising employee
performance
• SME knowledge of the practice area being managed is strongly preferred.
• Proven experience in establishing a positive culture, together with a healthy and safe working environment
• High level of collaboration with multiple areas around the business to determine workforce management planning
