Job Summary

What does the Consulting Architecture Team do?
You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to customers navigating complex cloud strategies, working directly with executive and C-level stakeholders to align adoption with business outcomes. From initial advisory engagements through delivery, you’ll bridge the gap between technology capabilities and organizational goals—translating cloud possibilities into actionable roadmaps, investment cases, and transformation strategies.

Responsibilities

As an AVD Architect, you will:

  • Lead collaboration with senior and C-level stakeholders to define Azure, AVD, and EUC strategies aligned to business and technology objectives.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, secure, and cost-effective AVD and Azure architectures.
  • Lead discovery and architecture sessions to understand business drivers, user requirements, application dependencies, and technical constraints.
  • Define enterprise AVD architecture, standards, reference designs, and technology roadmaps across infrastructure, networking, identity, security, applications, and operations.
  • Develop TCO models, capacity assessments, optimization strategies, and technology recommendations to support AVD and Azure investment decisions.
  • Provide technical leadership across the architecture lifecycle, from strategy and solution design through implementation and ongoing optimization.
  • Partner with Sales, Engineering, Delivery, and Cloud Operations teams to shape solutions, establish technical direction, and ensure alignment across stakeholders.
  • Develop executive-ready architecture recommendations, roadmaps, solution designs, and technical documentation.
  • Serve as a senior technical advisor and mentor to architects and engineering teams, helping establish best practices and continuously improve RapidScale’s AVD and Azure capabilities.

Who You Are

You are a senior cloud architect who enjoys solving complex enterprise infrastructure and end-user computing challenges. You are comfortable operating at both the architecture and hands-on engineering levels and can lead customers from strategy and design through implementation and operational optimization.

You have deep experience with Azure Virtual Desktop and understand that successful AVD implementations require much more than deploying session hosts—you understand the interdependencies between identity, networking, compute, storage, profiles, applications, security, endpoint management, automation, and user experience.

  • 3+ years of hands-on Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) / Windows Virtual Desktop experience in enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale AVD environments.

Remote teams can be made up of people working on different shifts and around the world, so you won't necessarily be stuck in the 9-5 schedule if it's not for you...

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

3. WHAT IS "WORKING REMOTE" REALLY FOR YOU?

Many people want to work remotely because of the flexibility it allows. You can work anywhere and at any time of the day...

With this question, companies are looking to see what equipment they may need to provide you with and to verify how aware you are of what remote working could mean for you physically and logistically...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
