Where Medical Language Meets Precision Every clinical note, discharge summary, and physician dictation carries weight far beyond the words on the page — a single misheard term or misplaced comma can ripple into real consequences for patient care. If you have a trained eye for detail and a genuine command of medical language, this role puts that skill to work from wherever you call home. We're looking for a Remote Medical Transcription Proofreader to review, refine, and finalize transcribed healthcare documents before they reach clinicians, hospitals, and insurance partners. You won't be transcribing from scratch; instead, you'll be the last checkpoint that catches what others might miss — inconsistent terminology, formatting slips, or a diagnosis code that doesn't quite match the dictation. What This Role Actually Involves On a typical day, you'll work through a queue of transcribed files, comparing them line by line against source audio or draft notes to confirm accuracy. Your job is part detective, part editor, part quality gatekeeper. Review transcribed medical records for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting errors Cross-check medical terminology, drug names, dosages, and diagnostic codes for accuracy Apply client-specific style guides and industry formatting standards consistently Flag unclear or ambiguous dictation and research using trusted medical references Return constructive, specific feedback to transcriptionists to help them improve Run periodic quality audits across batches of completed transcripts Protect patient confidentiality at every step, in line with HIPAA and related privacy rules Manage your own file queue to consistently hit turnaround deadlines What You'll Need to Bring This is a role for someone who already understands medical terminology, not someone learning it on the job. That said, we care more about proven accuracy than a specific credential path. Education: Bachelor's degree (in a healthcare, English, medical transcription, or related field is preferred) Experience: Minimum 2 years of professional experience in medical transcription or proofreading Solid grasp of anatomy, pharmacology, and clinical terminology across specialties Sharp command of English grammar, syntax, and punctuation Comfort working with transcription software, word processors, and online reference tools A private workspace with a reliable internet connection and your own computer Nice-to-Haves That Set Candidates Apart None of the following are dealbreakers, but they'll strengthen your application and may open doors to more specialized files down the line. Certification such as CMT (Certified Medical Transcriptionist) or RMT Prior experience proofreading for multiple medical specialties (radiology, cardiology, orthopedics, etc.) Familiarity with EHR/EMR platforms and dictation software beyond the basics A track record of remote or freelance work requiring self-direction How We Support Your Work Good proofreading requires focus, and focus requires the right conditions. We've built this role around flexibility rather than rigid oversight — you'll be measured on the quality and timeliness of your output, not hours logged at a desk. Applicants exploring this listing through Naukri Mitra will find the process straightforward, with clear expectations from the first conversation onward. Annual salary of $47,060, paid on a consistent schedule Fully remote position with flexible working hours around your deadlines Paid time off to rest and recharge Health coverage support for eligible team members Ongoing training and access to updated medical reference resources Performance-based opportunities for pay growth and specialty assignments The Kind of Team You're Joining Proofreaders on our team work independently day to day, but the group functions as a genuine support network. When someone hits an unusual term or an ambiguous dictation, it's normal to loop in a colleague rather than guess. Feedback flows in both directions — transcriptionists get specific, respectful notes from proofreaders, and proofreaders get recognition when their catches prevent costly errors downstream. Communication happens primarily over email, chat, and occasional video check-ins, so being comfortable with async collaboration matters more than being constantly online. Who Tends to Thrive Here The strongest fit for this role isn't necessarily the fastest reader — it's the person who slows down at exactly the right moments. You notice when a dosage looks off. You know the difference between "hypo-" and "hyper-" isn't a typo; it's a clinical distinction. You can work for hours without losing concentration, and you take real satisfaction in handing back a document that's genuinely clean. If deadlines motivate rather than stress you, and you're comfortable managing your own schedule without someone checking in every hour, this role will likely suit you well. Ready to Apply? Send your resume along with a brief note on your transcription or proofreading background, including any specialties you've worked with. If you hold a CMT, RMT, or equivalent certification, mention it directly — it helps us route your application faster. We review applications on a rolling basis and reach out to shortlisted candidates for a short conversation about your experience and availability.
