Nikco Sports PR Job Description/Expectations

1. Strategic Planning: Developing and implementing comprehensive PR strategies that support Nikco product launches, promotions, and overall brand identity.

· Preparing 1-2 weeks prior to a product launch in each market we will be selling into by researching radio, TV, and traditional newsprint/digital papers to determine which ones we would want to partner with.

· Reaching out to those avenues to negotiate a partnership that is a win-win.

· Developing a Media Schedule/Report to keep all opportunities organized and trackable.

2. Media Relations: Building and maintaining long-term relationships with key journalists, influencers, and media outlets to secure high-level placements.

3. Content Oversight: Supervising the creation of press releases or media e-mails to ensure a consistent brand voice. Will need to be approved by VP.

4. Crisis Management: Developing and leading crisis communication plans to protect the company's reputation during sensitive situations. Hopefully these will never occur, but our PR Director would need to communicate/interface with our media partners who are involved/affected.

5. Secure Interview:

· PR Director makes initial contact with hosts and program director. Confirm the hosts/PD would allow us to do interviews.

6. We Focus on Securing Live Interviews:

· In “content/part of the show” so listeners don’t switch stations.

· We offer “compelling” and tight content so interesting to listeners and timely since based on something major in the world of sports that their listeners would be interested in.

· Generally, interviews are between 2-3 minutes (sometimes longer and more in-depth for smaller stations/night radio if hosts are looking for more content).

7. What is generally covered in an interview:

· Description of the product and “painting an image” so that the listener can imagine the football/baseball/basketball, etc...

· 800-345-2868 Phone number Twice

· web address Twice

· Price of the item.

· Limited Edition and urgency plea to order now before they are sold out (which has happened many times).

· Only available through Nikco Sports and thus unique and collectible. That is especially important in this digital world where customers might be tempted to find it “elsewhere” online. Thus, communicate it can ONLY be bought through Nikco Sports.

· Quality of the product details may include:

  • Full Color logos
  • Embossed
  • Fully Licensed
  • Full sized football
  • Full sized bat
  • Fully Approved
  • Includes details about the event that occurred.

· Mention they may buy a case to protect it and ask their representative about it when they call in or check it out online.

8. Number of Promotions:

· 20-25 is the average annually (Super Bowl, CFP Championship, World Series Championship, 100th Anniversary Celebrations, NFL MVP, Cy Young Award Winner, #1 NFL Draft Pick, NFL MVP, Hall of Fame, Franchise Records, 500th Career Home Runs, Stadium Closing, Stadium Opening, League Records, etc.…).

· PR Director should also help facilitate/participate in new product ideas for promotions. We typically have an IDEAS meeting once per quarter.

9. Additional Duties:

· Media schedule that can be circulated to our team members to cover as many media hits as possible.

· Coordinate with VP on Media buys (when necessary)

· Inform VP and the team of changes as they occur.

· Communication with our management team starting with VP.

10. Additional Requirements:

· Our PR Director would need to sign a non-compete & intellectual property agreement which protects our business strategy and company. Something every new teammate signs.

11. “New & Old Media”:

· The primary focus in years past has been on radio. While that can “still work” we MUST be equally aggressive on the following mediums:

· T.V. and Zoom Interviews

· Podcasts

· Influencers with engaged and wide audiences specifically tailored to the market/fans we are pursuing (Meta (Reels), TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram.

· Pursuing Promoted Articles.

Common Interview Questions And Answers

1. HOW DO YOU PLAN YOUR DAY?

This is what this question poses: When do you focus and start working seriously? What are the hours you work optimally? Are you a night owl? A morning bird? Remote teams can be made up of people working on different shifts and around the world, so you won't necessarily be stuck in the 9-5 schedule if it's not for you...

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

3. WHAT IS "WORKING REMOTE" REALLY FOR YOU?

Many people want to work remotely because of the flexibility it allows. You can work anywhere and at any time of the day...

4. WHAT DO YOU NEED IN YOUR PHYSICAL WORKSPACE TO SUCCEED IN YOUR WORK?

With this question, companies are looking to see what equipment they may need to provide you with and to verify how aware you are of what remote working could mean for you physically and logistically...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Or you may receive even more specific questions, such as: What's on your calendar? Do you plan blocks of time to do certain types of work? Do you have an open calendar that everyone can see?...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

8. HOW TO PRIORITIZE WORK?

The day I watched Marie Forleo's film separating the important from the urgent, my life changed. Not all remote jobs start fast, but most of them are...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
