Special Education Teacher | Part-Time Direct Instruction | Denver, CO

Love teaching but ready to step away from the paperwork and demands of traditional special education roles? Results Learning is seeking Colorado-licensed Special Education teachers who want to make a meaningful difference through individualized instruction, without the responsibility of managing IEPs.

In this part-time role, you’ll work directly with students in one-on-one settings and small groups of no more than four learners. You’ll have access to instructional materials, dedicated planning time, and a schedule designed to support a healthier work-life balance.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Teach individuals and small groups of 1 to 4 students
  • Follow a predictable weekly schedule with planning time built in
  • Focus on student learning rather than IEP paperwork and case management
  • Continue working in education while maintaining PERA benefits, if eligible

This position offers an opportunity to use your teaching expertise in a more focused setting while helping students strengthen the academic and organizational skills they need to succeed.

Responsibilities

As a Special Education Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver targeted instruction in reading, literacy, math, and executive functioning
  • Provide services through push-in or pull-out instruction, depending on student needs
  • Adapt instruction to accommodate different learning styles, abilities, and academic levels
  • Work individually with students and facilitate small-group instruction for groups of up to four
  • Coordinate with school personnel to reinforce student progress and support learning goals
  • Submit concise session notes documenting the instruction provided

Curriculum and instructional resources are supplied, allowing you to concentrate on lesson delivery and student growth.

Work Schedule and Locations

  • Hours: School-day hours, generally between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
  • Schedule: Established weekly in advance, with planning time included
  • Locations: Schools within the City and County of Denver
  • Multiple sites: Some assignments may involve more than one school per day, with travel between sites kept short and manageable
  • Mileage: Reimbursed for eligible work-related travel

Teachers should be comfortable working in person and traveling between assigned Denver school locations as needed.

A Teaching Role Without Traditional Case Management

This position is structured to keep your attention on instruction and student engagement. Unlike many traditional special education teaching roles, it does not include:

  • Writing or managing IEPs
  • Supervising paraprofessionals or instructional aides
  • Completing grading outside of instructional sessions

Attendance at an IEP meeting may occasionally be requested, but this is uncommon, and support is available when needed.

The goal is simple: spend more of your working hours teaching and fewer managing administrative responsibilities.

Who Would Thrive in This Role?

This opportunity may be especially appealing to:

  • Retired or PERA-retired educators interested in continuing to teach
  • Experienced teachers seeking a more manageable workload
  • Special education professionals who enjoy individualized instruction and small-group learning
  • Educators who have worked with, or would like to support, middle and high school students

If you enjoy helping students build confidence, strengthen foundational skills, and make measurable academic progress, this role offers an opportunity to put those strengths to work.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold an active Colorado Special Education Teaching License. A Generalist endorsement covering ages 5–21 is preferred, though other endorsements will be considered.
  • Have experience delivering differentiated instruction in literacy, reading, and/or mathematics.
  • Be able to support students with a range of learning needs, abilities, and educational profiles.
  • Be willing to commute to assigned schools throughout the City and County of Denver.
  • Be available for in-person work during the school day for at least 15–20 hours per week.

Preferred qualification: READ Act certification is a plus but is not required.

Bring your special education expertise back to what matters most: helping students learn, grow, and succeed.

Salary Range: $60.00 to $65.00 per hour

Benefits: 401(k) with matching and Sick Leave
