X / Twitter Operator | Terminally Online Pokémon Card Collector

About the role

PokeMarket is a new market intelligence and research product built specifically for Pokémon cards.

Think less “TCG social media brand” and more “collector with a Bloomberg Terminal and strong opinions.”

I’m looking for someone to operate the brand’s X / Twitter account.

This is not a traditional social media manager role.

I do not need someone to build content calendars, write generic engagement bait, or schedule five variations of “What’s your favorite Pokémon?”

I’m looking for someone who is genuinely internet-native, spends a lot of time on X already, understands how strong accounts actually behave there, and ideally knows Pokémon cards and collector culture.

The account should feel like a smart collector with access to unusually strong market data, not a company trying to “do social.”

What you’ll own

The exact volume should flex based on what is happening in the market, but a typical week may include:

- 1 to 2 strong original posts per day

- Meaningful daily participation in Pokémon, collecting, grading, auction, and market conversations

- Quote posts and reactions when there is something worth jumping on

- Active monitoring of major sales, price moves, grading news, auctions, product news, and viral collector discourse

- Same-day conversion of market data into native X content

- Proactive relationship-building with collectors, creators, shops, graders, and market accounts

- Repurposing existing videos, charts, research, and market visuals when they naturally fit the platform

This is not a “batch everything once a week and schedule it” role.

I want someone who is present throughout the week and notices things.

The bar

Specific over generic.

Interesting over frequent.

Collector-native over corporate.

A good post should still be worth reading if the logo disappeared.

AI can be useful for research and ideation, but the final output cannot read like generic AI-generated social copy.

You should be comfortable having opinions, recognizing when something interesting is happening, and writing like a person rather than a brand account.

Contract structure

This will begin as a paid one-week trial.

Rate: $25 to $40/hour depending on experience

Expected scope: roughly 15 to 25 hours during the trial

Weekly trial budget will be agreed before starting and capped.

If we both want to continue, the ongoing arrangement will initially look similar and can evolve based on fit, workload, and results.

There is no assumption that your rate or weekly hours automatically increase after the trial.

There may also be additional performance upside for exceptional results as we develop better attribution around X traffic, signups, and account growth.

Either side should be able to end the engagement after any completed week.

I would rather find an unusually strong fit and work together for a long time than force a mediocre fit because we signed a large contract.

When applying

Please include:

- A brief summary of your experience operating X / Twitter accounts

- Your background with Pokémon cards, TCGs, collecting, or adjacent communities

- A few examples of posts, campaigns, or account work you are proud of, shared through Upwork

- Two or three X accounts you think are exceptionally good, and why

- In your own words: what do most brand accounts get wrong about Twitter?

- Two sample original posts you would write for a Pokémon card market intelligence brand

- Three sample replies you would make in relevant collector or market conversations

Please do not send a generic social media management proposal.

I’m specifically looking for taste, writing ability, internet instincts, initiative, and genuine feel for the platform.

I also do not need a strategy deck. The brand voice, product direction, and visual identity are already established.

I need someone who can hit the ground running and operate.

Common Interview Questions And Answers

1. HOW DO YOU PLAN YOUR DAY?

This is what this question poses: When do you focus and start working seriously? What are the hours you work optimally? Are you a night owl? A morning bird? Remote teams can be made up of people working on different shifts and around the world, so you won't necessarily be stuck in the 9-5 schedule if it's not for you...

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

3. WHAT IS "WORKING REMOTE" REALLY FOR YOU?

Many people want to work remotely because of the flexibility it allows. You can work anywhere and at any time of the day...

4. WHAT DO YOU NEED IN YOUR PHYSICAL WORKSPACE TO SUCCEED IN YOUR WORK?

With this question, companies are looking to see what equipment they may need to provide you with and to verify how aware you are of what remote working could mean for you physically and logistically...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Or you may receive even more specific questions, such as: What's on your calendar? Do you plan blocks of time to do certain types of work? Do you have an open calendar that everyone can see?...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

8. HOW TO PRIORITIZE WORK?

The day I watched Marie Forleo's film separating the important from the urgent, my life changed. Not all remote jobs start fast, but most of them are...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
