Courage Corner | Strength & Fitness Coaching

Compensation: $25–$35 per hourJob Type: Part-TimeLocation: Remote / Virtual Personal Training

About Courage Corner

Courage Corner is a personal training business dedicated to helping individuals build strength, improve their health, increase their confidence, and develop sustainable fitness habits.

Our training philosophy emphasizes proper exercise technique, progressive overload, individualized programming, and long-term results.

We believe great personal trainers are more than exercise instructors. They are educators, motivators, and coaches who help clients become stronger, more capable versions of themselves.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and dependable Virtual Personal Trainer who wants to develop their coaching skills while making a meaningful difference in clients’ lives.

The Gymternship Process

At Courage Corner, we recognize that earning a personal training certification and becoming an effective coach are two different things.

That’s why our onboarding process includes a Gymternship, a practical mentorship experience designed to bridge the gap between textbook knowledge and real-world personal training.

During the Gymternship, trainers will:

  • Observe live virtual personal training sessions with experienced coaches.
  • Learn how to conduct effective client assessments and identify individual training needs.
  • Practice teaching fundamental movement patterns, including squatting, hinging, pushing, pulling, lunging, carrying, and core stabilization.
  • Develop the ability to recognize and correct improper exercise technique through a computer screen.
  • Learn exercise regressions and progressions for clients with different fitness levels, abilities, and equipment.
  • Practice communicating instructions clearly, confidently, and professionally.
  • Learn how to structure effective 30-, 45-, and 60-minute personal training sessions.
  • Gradually transition from observing sessions to coaching clients independently.

The goal of the Gymternship is to develop competent, confident trainers who understand not only what exercises to prescribe, but why, when, and how to coach them effectively.

What Is Virtual Personal Training Like?

Virtual personal training is real-time, one-on-one fitness coaching conducted through video conferencing platforms such as Zoom.

Rather than standing beside a client in a traditional gym, you’ll be coaching individuals in their homes, home gyms, offices, or other suitable exercise spaces.

A typical virtual training session involves:

  • Greeting the client and discussing their progress, energy levels, and any physical concerns.
  • Guiding the client through an appropriate warm-up.
  • Demonstrating exercises and explaining proper technique.
  • Observing movement through the client’s camera and providing immediate feedback.
  • Modifying exercises based on available equipment, space, and physical ability.
  • Monitoring exercise intensity, repetitions, rest periods, and overall performance.
  • Recording progress and making adjustments to future workouts.
  • Providing encouragement, accountability, and a positive coaching experience.

Virtual training requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to teach without physically adjusting a client’s position.

Our trainers don’t simply count repetitions. They teach movement, build relationships, and help clients achieve measurable progress.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct live, one-on-one virtual personal training sessions.
  • Design and implement individualized strength and conditioning programs.
  • Teach safe, effective exercise technique.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust programs accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate client training records.
  • Communicate professionally and consistently with clients.
  • Provide motivation, encouragement, and accountability.
  • Maintain a reliable internet connection and professional virtual training environment.
  • Participate in continuing education, mentorship, and professional development.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Nationally recognized personal training certification or willingness to obtain one before independently coaching clients.
  • Strong understanding of exercise fundamentals and human movement.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable internet connection, camera, and microphone.
  • Professionalism, punctuality, and a genuine desire to help others.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience coaching clients in person or virtually.
  • Experience with strength training, kettlebells, resistance bands, and functional fitness.
  • Familiarity with exercise programming and progressive overload.
  • CPR/AED certification.
  • Willingness to receive constructive feedback and continuously improve.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Coachable: Open to learning, feedback, and mentorship.
  • Dependable: Takes punctuality, preparation, and client commitments seriously.
  • Personable: Enjoys working with people and developing long-term professional relationships.
  • Knowledgeable: Understands the science and practical application of exercise.
  • Resourceful: Can adapt workouts to different environments and equipment limitations.
  • Passionate: Genuinely enjoys helping people improve their strength, health, and quality of life.

Compensation & Professional Development

  • $25–$35 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Structured Gymternship onboarding and mentorship.
  • Opportunities to develop practical coaching and programming skills.
  • Flexible remote working environment.
  • Opportunity to work with clients of different ages, fitness levels, and abilities.
  • Potential for additional client hours as the business grows.
