Responsibilities

  • Daily oversight of clinical products processed through primary and secondary packaging operations.
  • Lead, coach and mentor employees, acting in a professional and approachable manner with strong interpersonal, listening and communication skills.
  • Be the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for each process within your area and speak confidently to all internal and external stakeholders about the processes.
  • Innovate. Independently and proactively identify problems/improvement opportunities and implement solutions to solve problems and eliminate reoccurrences.
  • Measure team, individual, and process performance. Set goals and hold team, individuals, and self accountable for all actions.
  • Foster employees' education and personal development, providing opportunities for growth and exposure. Train, motivate, encourage and grow the workforce.
  • Apply Good Manufacturing Principles in all areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate and promote the company vision of the 4 I's: Integrity, Intensity, Innovation and involvement.
  • Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Direct, lead, supervise and provide support to personnel. Coach, listen and advise all personnel.
  • Learn, understand and become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on all packaging processes. Investigate process deviations, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Communicate and train employees on their duties, responsibilities and company policies and procedures.
  • Challenge the status-quo. Continuously identify and lead improvements in all processes. Eliminate waste, increase effectiveness and maximize efficiency of the operations. Improve safety, quality delivery and cost.
  • Oversee daily scheduling of all packaging operations and provide work direction across multiple production areas.
  • Ensure employees work safely and in accordance with all internal and external regulations, procedures and standards.
  • Identify, measure and improve critical metrics.
  • Communicate performance expectations and hold employees accountable through application of the Performance Management and Development process.
  • Consistently apply all company and site policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs) are current and accurately portray what is being performed on the packaging floor.
  • Ensure that the technicians know, understand and follow these instructions.
  • Develop career path plans for employees to foster personnel growth and fulfillment.
  • Motivate employees to achieve work goals.
  • Act as a role model leader.
  • This position is primarily working in a production environment. Long periods of standing to monitor room activities and assist in production requirements as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Requirements

  • Must be Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check to include drug screening.
  • Advanced Degree preferred plus 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical packaging or FDA-regulated industry.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience is desired.
  • Mastery of skills required to read, understand, and adhere to the SOPs and policies of a GMP environment.
  • Can manage personnel in a cGMP environment.
  • Must be able to stand continuously (95%-100%)
  • Must be able to walk frequently (50% - 79%)
  • Must be able to sit (up to 49%)
  • Must be able to lift and or carry the max of 50 pounds frequently (50%-79%)
  • Must be able to bend frequently (50%-79%)
  • Must be able to squat (up to 49%)
  • Must be able to reach above shoulder level essentially (80%-94%)
  • Must be able to use both right and left hand for repetitive action, simple grasping, pushing and pulling and fine manipulation essentially (80%-94%)
  • Must be able to use both the right and left foot for repetitive action occasionally (up to 49%)
  • Vision requirements for this position: close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision, peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three dimensional vision) and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Position is responsible for inspection of pharmaceutical products, components and labels. Incumbent must meet applicable visual acuity/color blindness standards to perform visual inspections in a cGMP environment.
  • Personal Protective Equipment Certification (PPE) including but not limited to filtering face masks, PAPR, N-95 masks, half face masks and safety glasses is required to perform this position
  • Must be able to work in both heat/cold environments (up to 79%)

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred Fields of Study: Business, Management, Engineering, Scientific field, or related discipline
  • Lean or Six Sigma Certification (Green or Black Belt) preferred
  • Consideration may be given to those who hold 6+ years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience. This would include 3 years of supervisory and pharmaceutical packaging and/or pharmaceutical industry or FDA regulated industry experience.
  • Clinical or pharmaceutical packaging experience preferred
  • Industrial engineering background/training
  • Experience leading teams of >10 employees
  • Any certification for manufacturing, management or pharmaceuticals preferred
  • Project Management Certification (PMP) or project management experience preferred
