Role                                     SAP Functional Consultant

Functional coverage       FI, MM, HR/HCM, PY, SD and Dassian

Engagement focus          Functional assessment, validation, testing, migration support and business assurance

Role purpose: Provide cross-functional SAP expertise across the ECC platform for three production landscapes being migrated to a SAP archive model for historical reference. The consultant will support business-process understanding, source and target validation, test planning and execution, defect resolution, stakeholder coordination, and controlled handover for FI, MM, HR/HCM, Payroll, SD and Dassian-enabled processes.

1. Position Summary

The SAP Functional Consultant will work with business stakeholders, application SMEs, technical migration teams, database teams and testing teams to protect functional integrity across SAP ECC and legacy SAP archive environments. The role requires broad process knowledge, the ability to trace cross-module dependencies, and disciplined preparation of test evidence and reconciliation results.

2. Key Responsibilities

  • Understand current-state business processes, organizational structures, configuration dependencies, interfaces, reports, forms, jobs and controls across the in-scope SAP landscapes.
  • Lead or support functional assessment workshops and document process flows, critical transactions, business rules, master data dependencies and expected results.
  • Define a risk-based functional validation strategy for pre-migration, migration rehearsal, cutover and post-migration stages.
  • Prepare test scenarios, test cases, test data, expected results, traceability, entry and exit criteria, and evidence requirements.
  • Execute or coordinate smoke testing, sanity testing, regression testing, integration testing and user acceptance testing across the assigned modules.
  • Validate critical business transactions, balances, documents, master data, reports, interfaces, batch jobs and cross-module postings after migration or infrastructure change.
  • Compare source and target results, investigate variances, document defects, support root-cause analysis, and coordinate retesting through closure.
  • Work closely with SAP Basis, ABAP, security, infrastructure, database and cloud teams to resolve functional issues without compromising business controls.
  • Support cutover planning by defining functional checkpoints, business blackout considerations, validation sequencing, go/no-go inputs and rollback decision criteria.
  • Prepare status reports, RAID inputs, defect dashboards, test completion reports, UAT sign-off packages, knowledge-transfer materials and operational handover documentation.
  • Ensure all activities comply with change management, access management, segregation-of-duties, audit, data privacy and documentation standards.

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?
